If you have invested in a SUP board and kit, we encourage you to use it (provided it's in working order). Our aim is to empower you to feel confident every time you take to the water. Using your own equipment allows you to become familiar with it, and to ask us any questions about how it works.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?
First of all pack a sense of fun and adventure. After that we suggest...
- A wetsuit or suitable SUP clothing (we don't supply these).
- Your own SUP board and kit if you have it. The kit must include (all in working order) a paddle, coiled leash, fin, and appropriate PFD. Don't worry about this if you're hiring kit from us.
- A bottle of water.
- Some suitable water shoes or footwear (neoprene booties or regular runners). This is optional for adults (18+ yrs), and mandatory for juniors (8-17 yrs).
- (Cheap) sunglasses and a hat.
- Factor 50 sunscreen to protect against sun and wind
- A drybag if you want to carry anything on your board.
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee a secure location to leave any valuables while you are on the water with us, so please leave them at home.
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR ON THE WATER?
This is very much dependent on the weather, your comfort, and your ability. You may feel comfortable in a wetsuit, or lightweight sports clothing such as shorts/leggings and a t-shirt. If you need advice, just ask us. There's a strong chance you'll get wet, even if it's just for a swim. We don't supply wetsuits.
The wearing of water shoes (neoprene booties or regular runners) is optional for adults (18+ yrs) and mandatory for juniors (8-17 yrs).
You must wear a PFD (aka buoyancy aid, lifejacket) at all times when on the water. If you don't have one, we can supply one for you.
A hat and sunscreen is always a good idea, even in Ireland!
